Durga Puja – 25+ years and going strong

It all started with around ten Bengali families coming together and starting the Durga Puja in a small way 26 years ago. Currently, it is celebrated in a 25,000 sq ft pandal within a DDA Park by the side of Swati Apartment on the main Mother Diary Road. It’s the first Durga Puja that one encounters while entering Patparganj. With a visibility of kilometers on both sides of the pandal, it has a daily footfall of around 4000 people from all walks of life on all the days of celebration. This year, owing to its Silver Jubilee Celebration there are grand proposals to create gates across the main road to further increase its visibility. The footfall is also expected to go up to around 6000 people daily. Many cultural activities are organized during the Puja. Besides other activities like Sports day, Anandamela, Recitation Competition are organized which gets enthusiastic participation from both the genders of all age groups.
